Fire Engineer as the name itself implies is the job that concerns not so good face of the Goddess of Energy. Fire Engineer Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • Aspirants to become a Fire Engineer at various levels must have of one of the following.
  • Fire Engineering Certificate/Diploma classes of 3 months to 2 years duration offered by privately institutes.
  • BE in Fire Engineering 3- 1/2/4 years.

Age Limits

Potential candidate must be aged 19 yrs. to 24 yrs. old.

Physical Requirements

  • Height:- Minimum 165 cms
  • Weight:- 50 kgs.
  • Measurement of the chest:- 81 centimetres, expanded five centimetres,
  • Eyesight: 6/6, without any aid (preferably).

Skills needed to become a fire engineer

  • Fire Engineer must work day by day under hazardous circumstances and runs the risk of being burnt, inhaling smoke and exposure to lethal chemicals. They must be patient, disciplined, fast and productive, dependable, self-assured and a team player.
  • They must know streets and locations in their respective area of operation within their districts.
  • They must also be aware of fire-fighting, the various fire types and their management as well as the methods and means of rescue.
  • Only after being fighting fit and professionally trained can they be entrusted to do all this then and only then can they be able to save the lives of the people at the least risk to their own lives. They need to take special training/course in order to perform their duty in an effective way.

How to become a Fire Engineer?

There are some steps that aspiring candidates should follow in order to become a Fire Engineer.

Step 1 : Students passing 10 th class exams can take Diploma in Fire Engineering course in the diploma colleges/polytechnics. To enroll in these courses candidates might need to pass some entry test administered by different state technical education boards. Twelve of the institutes however offer first come first serve admission with no entrance tests.

Alternatively, applicants that have completed the 12th clearing may pursue B.E Fire Engineering course. Some of the best engineering colleges in India may require candidates to take Engineering Entrance Exams such as Joint Entrance Exam to gain admission.

Step 2 : On finishing this three to four years diploma/degree course in fire engineering and some mandatory on job training they may choose to join either in the private or public sector as assistant fire engineer or in the management cadres (only those with degree or master degree as qualification) in the fire departments.
